ANZAC Day 2010

(PJM translates to Malaysian Service Medal, awarded by the Malaysian Govt for service during the Malayan Emergency). Murray was the only Vietnam Vet on the parade. He spent 13 years in the RNZAF, trained as an aircraft engineer, served in Malaya 1959-1961, accepted for flight training, he crewed Sunderland flying boats for three years 1964-67 then C130 Hercules 1967-70 followed by flight operations in Vietnam 1967-1969. Murray left the Air Force in 1970 and commenced 30 years of airline flying, 27 years with Air NZ, three years with Malaysia Airlines, living and working out of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He spent a few months contract flying for Garuda Airlines and Air Pacific before retiring to Katikati in 2000. Murray has spent 10 years on the executive of the Katikati RSA, one year as Vice President, six as President and three as Welfare Officer, a position he currently holds.

Above: Allan Robinson and Stu Southall. Allan served with the 6th Field Ambulance in Greece, Crete, Alamein and Tunis. Stu was with the 23rd NZ Battalion in Italy before going to Japan as part of the occupation forces.
